Information about Indianapolis
Indianapolis, the largest city in Indiana, is also the state's capital.
With over 1.6 million people living in the greater metropolitan area,
it ranks as America's 12th largest city.
Often called the "Crossroads of America," Indianapolis is intersected by more segments of interstate and US highways than any other metro area: I-69, I-70, I-74, I-65 and I-465. In just a few hours, you can reach Indianapolis from Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Cincinnati, or Louisville. In fact, more than half of the nation's population lives within a day's drive of Indianapolis.
The city's size and central location makes it an ideal location for businesses, vacationers, and residents alike. Indianapolis boasts world-class sports, museums, shopping, and dining. With the revitalization of the downtown area and the tremendous growth of the suburbs, Indianapolis is an exciting place to be!
