In all, over 350 new features have been added to Harvest LIS 7.0. Of these, Orchard has added nearly 100 new features requested specifically by our users. Here are a few of the new features included in Harvest LIS version 7.0:
-
Order Entry Rules
Order Entry Rules allow users to create their own rules for preventing problems that occur while placing orders, as well as workflow-specific rules that can change test routing or present pop-up alerts to the laboratorian placing the order.
-
Data Filters
Data Filters have been implemented throughout the application, allowing complex queries to be applied to many important screens in the application. This ensures that the massive amounts of information generated by the laboratory can be managed effectively, and that the important data of your laboratory is seen by the correct people.
-
Document & Image Linking
Document Linking allows attachments to the patient file, such as word processing and spreadsheet documents, images, and PDF files. Documents can be attached to specific results, to order choices, to orders, or to patients.
-
NCCLS/CLSI-Compliant Antibiogram Report
A new NCCLS/CLSI-compliant antibiogram report has been added to the Microbiology Module.
-
Enhancements to the Data Browsers
Significant enhancements have been made to the Result, Order Choice, Order, and Patient data browsers, allowing for more sophisticated automated report generation. Some enhancements include data filtering, automatic report routing to networked printers, and enhanced capacity and speed.
-
Improved User Interface
The user interface of the entire application has been refreshed, supporting the native look and feel of Windows XP. Significant improvements to memory management throughout the application allow more data to be displayed on the screen at one time, and also allow faster access to very large databases.
-
More Customizable Harvest Webstation Security Options
Enhanced security options for Harvest Webstation allow greater customization and access controls that can support reference laboratories and multi-practice organizations.
-
More Worklist Generation Options
New worklist generation options make it easier to manage list-based activities. Easily store, recall, rearrange, and reprint worklists as needed.
-
More Westgard Rules Enhance QC
We have added seven new Westgard rules to the QC module of Harvest 7.0. These rules will automatically monitor multiple levels of quality control simultaneously, and alert the laboratorian when trends are detected across all the levels.
-
New Levey-Jennings Graphing Capabilities
Levey-Jennings graphs in the QC module, as well as patient result graphing, have been rewritten in Harvest LIS 7.0. Some features of the new graphing capabilities include the ability to plot results with varying numbers of data points—or with completely different date ranges—on the same graph, proportional display (by time and date) of graphed data, and interactive graphs which allow you to click on data points to receive more information.
-
Integration Enhancements
Many enhancements have been made to HL7 interfaces. Integration with hospital information systems (HIS) has been greatly improved, and new features have been added which simplify workflow with billing systems, electronic medical records (EMR) packages, and demographic/registration (ADT) systems.
-
New Fully Integrated Anatomic Pathology System (AP system not included with upgrade)
Orchard has developed a new, modern, integrated Anatomic Pathology system. This is an add-on system and sold separately, like Orchard’s Harvest Webstation and Microbiology modules. This system provides full support for the AP workflow, while providing a configurable level of integration between the AP system and the clinical laboratory information system. Attractive, customizable reports that include graphics captured by microscopes and other equipment can be printed and viewed through Harvest Webstation. Learn more about the AP system.
