Order Entry Details
For both laboratories and their client providers, lab order management challenges include tracking a patient's ever-changing insurance coverage, entering accurate diagnosis codes, routing the order to the appropriate lab, and delivering timely results. If providers are going to adopt an on-line order entry system, it must be quick and easy. Copia's single order entry page handles these challenges in three easy steps.
Step 1 - Start an Order
Providers sign onto a single, secure site. They select a patient to view up-to-date demographic information, which is provided through an interface to the Practice Management or EMR system.
Step 2 - Select the Tests
Tests are ordered by typing or by selecting from a list. Then, based on the insurance requirements and priority, Copia's intelligent routing capability automatically assigns the order to the proper laboratory along with the corresponding codes for that lab.
Step 3 - Verify ICD-9 Codes
Using CMS-approved criteria, such as diagnosis and frequency, Copia reviews the diagnosis codes, verifying reimbursement status, and automatically flags questionable codes for review. When necessary, an ABN can be printed in either English or Spanish, eliminating errors, delays, and the loss of income.
