Orchard® Copia®

Orchard Copia is an outreach and EMR connectivity system used by hospital and reference laboratories and lab networks doing outreach. Copia links multiple labs and enables web-based access and client EMR integration for order entry and result delivery.
Improve Access, Link Your Labs, Keep Your LIS
Copia is designed to work with most existing laboratory information systems, allowing your organization to capture all the advantages of web-based outreach and EMR integration without investing in a new LIS. For multiple lab locations with disparate LISs, Copia can also be used to link the disparate lab systems and create a single depository database for patient results.
"Copia is a godsend. In addition to improving service for our outreach practices, we've been able to build an entire outreach strategy around this product." "Copia is the most comprehensive system I have been trained on. It is all impressive, and I appreciate it." "Copia is our number one marketing tool!" |
Web-based Access and EMR Connectivity
For laboratory outreach, both web-based access and EMR integration are necessary facets for success and revenue growth through remote order entry and results delivery. With Orchard® Copia®, your lab is more accessible to providers either via the web or directly through their EMRs, and with electronic order entry and results delivery, you eliminate paper requisitions, reduce errors, save time, improve efficiency, and increase revenue. Copia is designed for complex outreach business scenarios like those found in hospitals and reference laboratories serving multiple business entities. Designed to work with Orchard® Harvest™ LIS or integrated with other legacy lab systems, Copia’s Java-based application is a front-end outreach system designed to increase your lab’s marketability by providing easy web-based access and direct integration to your client providers’ EMRs.
Customizable Order Entry Screens
With Copia, you can design the order entry screen your providers see. In addition to standard formatting options, such as fonts and colors, you choose what fields appear, where the fields appear, and whether the fields are required. This allows you to make order entry as simple or as detailed as you oryour providers need. You may even design multiple order entry screen layouts and assign them by practice, location, or even by individual providers. You can even personalize Copia as your own for marketing and branding purposes. This is a huge benefit to reference laboratories with multiple customers, allowing the reference lab to control what their customers see.
Automated Order Routing
Within a lab network, order entry involves multiple lab systems—even multiple workstations, and users have to review patients’ insurance before routing the test. With Copia as the central ordering system, Copia automatically handles the location-dependent test codes, patient insurance, and lab routing preferences.
Flexible Rules-based Decision-making Technology
Customizable rules exist throughout the system for order entry, splitting orders, auto-approval of patient results, reflexing additional testing, automatic comments, clinical follow-up recommendations, result delivery, and billing/CPT codes, and they can be defined based on numerous data fields, such as by user, order location, test, or day of the week.
Automatic ICD-9 Code Checking
During order entry, Copia checks medical necessity, frequency, and ICD-9 codes and flags questionable orders for review. When necessary, Copia prints an ABN in either English or Spanish. These checks happen automatically, saving time and maximizing reimbursements.
Accurate Remote Sample Collection
With Copia, your phlebotomists can review patient orders remotely from any PC with web access, and preview a draw list, generate a worklist, produce bar code labels, or complete a shipping manifest. Clinical questions, container type information, and personalized comments are presented on-screen or printed for each order, reducing errors and expediting collection.
Secure Access to Results 24/7
From any PC with web access, providers can view the current result, the result with previous history, or even display a graph comparing all current and past results. Various username and password settings in Copia provide all the necessary flexibility for security and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Monitor Client Services
Copia’s Client Services module allows you to track inbound calls, collect data, monitor the quantity of supplies provided to clients, run reports, and schedule phlebotomy and courier routes.
Orchard Copia Reports
Customized, Consolidated, and Consistent Reporting
Copia allows customized report formats, and combines patient test results from one or more laboratories into a single report. With authorized access, providers may review current and past results, both in text and graphic formats. This improves the quality of reporting and facilitates informed decision-making.
Easy Data Mining & Management Reports
Copia’s integrated Browser tool allows you to create and save ad hoc management reports directly from your desktop PC. You can schedule reports to run automatically, and the user-friendly interface does not require complex programming or the help of the IT department. Create reports in PDF format for printing, or save them as a delimited file. And because Copia utilizes a SQL database, you can use any compliant third-party data mining tool.
