User Training

Orchard Harvest LIS: TrainingOrchard knows that the better trained you are on your lab system, the more you can take advantage of each of the features to help your laboratory be more productive and efficient. To maximize your understanding and the use of the numerous features and rules-based technology, Orchard offers four different week-long training classes held numerous times throughout the year at our headquarters in Carmel, Indiana. Three of classes are accredited through the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® program.

System Administrator Training (P.A.C.E.® accredited for 33.5 Contact Hours)

Orchard Software’s week-long comprehensive System Administrator class is designed for our new customers. Prior to on-site installation, this class helps you learn the necessary concepts and skills required to work with your Orchard Systems Engineer to configure and implement Harvest LIS in your laboratory.

Advanced User Training (P.A.C.E.® accredited for 30.5 Contact Hours)

Orchard’s Advanced User Training class is for customers who have mastered the basics of Harvest LIS and are looking to expand their knowledge. Using the latest features, this week-long course teaches you how to enhance your productivity and maintain your system, and it introduces you to optional modules, such as Microbiology, Harvest Webstation, and Anatomic Pathology.

“I attend the Advanced User Training yearly and find it very beneficial for several reasons. Orchard usually has a new software version yearly, so this gives the super user the opportunity to learn the new version before going live. I usually will go to class to learn about the new version then come back to work and install it. We are also on the Gold plan to include attending training class yearly. As a super user you probably have other duties besides this task and going to the class gives you the opportunity to learn so many features to the software and interact
with other laboratories to see how their software is set up.”
— Debra Galan, Women’s Health Laboratories

“I highly recommend the [Harvest LIS Advanced User] class even if you have gone to one in the past. Each user has set up Harvest in their own unique manner and you learn so much talking to other users and the knowledgeable Orchard staff. Each Harvest version contains so many enhancements and this is the best way to learn about them and see new ways of using Harvest. A very definite plus: Orchard treats its customers better than any other vendor I have worked with! They always manage to surprise me by giving me more than I expected. Keep up the good work.”
— Carol Schreck, ITxM Diagnostics

“I am currently attending the Advanced User Training in Carmel. I HIGHLY recomend this to everyone....We are only on the begining of the 3rd day and it has surpassed my expectations...
This training really allows you to learn and put to use all these powerful features that are available that we can all use to improve workflow, result delivery, etc., etc., and keep everyone happy (users and clients) in a very efficient way.”

— Carmen T. Cortes-Ramos, Bionetics Corp. (Life Sciences Support Contract)

Microbiology Module Training (P.A.C.E.® accredited for 22.5 Contact Hours)

The Harvest LIS Microbiology Module Training class is for new users who wish to learn concepts and skills required to configure and implement the Microbiology module for Harvest LIS. Micro training covers a wide variety of topics, such as configuration of microbiology laboratory tests and order choices, defining sample types, and microbiology-related system preferences. You will also learn to use the module’s “electronic worksheet” for paperless microbiology processing and to incorporate clinical questions, text shortcuts, and order choice statuses into the Harvest LIS Microbiology module.

Advanced Copia Training (Not P.A.C.E.® accredited)

Orchard’s Advanced Copia Training class will present the newest features of the latest version of the software, how to maintain your Copia system, and tips and tricks on maximizing your use of Copia to the benefit of your lab. You will also review security functions and explore enhancements designed to assist you in maintaining your HIPAA compliance. Database management and maintenance tools for backing up your database and troubleshooting problems will also be discussed. And best of all, you will have the chance to interact with other users and learn new ways to implement Copia’s features in your lab.
