Simple & Efficient Connectivity to Your EMR
Orchard Trellis orders and results software uses the Internet and web services as the method of connectivity to enable electronic integration with POC testing locations and your EMR. Orchard supports standard HL7 2.3.1 messaging to allow for ease in establishing connectivity to your EMR. Once connectivity is established, POC orders placed in the EMR transmit into Trellis, which is interfaced with the POC analyzer. Completed results are transmitted to Trellis, where they can be reviewed and then released directly into the EMR.
A Flexible Solution Offering Many Deployment Options
Trellis is very flexible and can be deployed in a variety of ways. The most basic installation is in a small practice where a single Trellis is utilized as a simple bridge between the EMR and a few low-volume instruments. Trellis can also be deployed to connect the EMR with multiple POCT locations.
For facilities where a centralized lab exists among a network of POCT locations, there are a couple of deployment options. For a laboratory with a legacy LIS, Trellis can provide POC connectivity by linking the POC testing sites directly to the EMR, or Trellis can be used in conjunction with Orchard Harvest LIS to simplify quality control management and make results from POC analyzers easily accessible for analytics or inspection purposes.

Ease of Use
Orchard Trellis is easy to use, and training is straightforward because it is a simple software package for viewing orders, viewing results, and releasing them back to your EMR. The Trellis user interface is designed to be completely contained in a single window, eliminating the confusion of multiple overlapping windows. The Trellis application window is divided into three views—the Home view, the Pending Review view, and the Released Results view.
Orders & Results, Review & Release
Orders placed in your EMR are transmitted into Trellis and appear in the Pending Review view of the software. As results come from the analyzer, the microscope icon appears to notify you that results are available and ready for review and approval. Reviewing results is as easy as selecting a patient and clicking the Results button or by double-clicking on a patient name. Once results have been reviewed and approved, they are easily released to the EMR by clicking Release.
Released Results
Orchard Trellis provides a Released Results view, enabling you to review a previously released order with results. Similar to the Pending Review view, you review a patient’s results by selecting the patient and either double-clicking on the patient’s name or clicking the Results button.
Quality Control
Trellis used in conjunction with Orchard Harvest LIS complements Harvest LIS functionality to make patient results from POC analyzers easily accessible for analytics or inspection purposes and to simplify POC QC management. The QC features of Harvest LIS and the integration with Trellis enables you to easily manage QC at your POC testing sites. Harvest LIS can automatically push QC orders out to your POCT locations. QC results come back to Harvest LIS, allowing you to eliminate the cumbersome manual process and easily monitor QC from the lab via your Harvest LIS.
Simple Installation & Minimal Training
Orchard Trellis is a simple software solution. We provide you with the ability to easily load the Trellis software on your POC PC workstation(s). There are minimal hardware requirements, and installation simply involves connecting Trellis to the POC device via a supplied serial port connection. Orchard supports standard HL7 2.3.1 messaging, which makes EMR connectivity simple and easy to manage. Training is minimal and conducted by phone.
