Orchard Symposium—Fall 2010: Presentation Summaries for Breakout Sessions
Session 1: An Update on ARRA and Its Impact on Laboratories
The topic of the ARRA/HITECH is very much related to the laboratory, as getting clinical data into the EMR in a discrete format is essential for meeting meaningful use criteria. Whether you are a reference laboratory, POL, or hospital, these initiatives will be a key focus for IT departments and administrators, and laboratorians need to understand how they will play a key role in helping their organization earn these incentives. This session will help you understand the impact ARRA/HITECH will have on your laboratory and what you need to do to meet the meaningful use criteria.
Session 2: IT Issues—Integration/Networks/Setup/Hardware/Maintenance
This session will provide you with tips and insight regarding your Harvest LIS and the technology, network, and maintenance used to support it. We will also show you ways you can be sure to maximize the performance of your Harvest LIS.
Session 3: What's New in Harvest LIS 8.5
This session will briefly show several new and enhanced features in the latest version of Harvest LIS, such as Links, Rules for Order Entry, Conditional Formulas, Automatic Ordering of QC, and Date/Time Exclusions from the Turnaround Time Report.
Session 4: Learn More About Orchard's Microbiology Module
This session is designed for current and prospective users alike, as we will give a brief overall demonstration of Orchard Harvest LIS Microbiology module, and then show some of the new and more advanced features of the system. There will also be time to address your questions regarding the system.
Session 5: An Update on ARRA and Its Impact on Laboratories

Session 6: Harvest LIS System Admin / Setting up ACOs
This session will discuss the role of system administrators and how they interact with Harvest LIS, including the administration settings and Advanced Configuration Options (ACOs) they may set to attain the desired functionality.
Session 7: Data Mining in Orchard Harvest LIS
This session will present a brief overview of the four browsers and the browser enhancements available in version 8.5, with the focus on building column views, building complex filters, mining the data, and exporting data to and massaging data using Excel.
Session 8: Learn More About Orchard Copia for Outreach & EMR Integration
Electronic outreach and EMR integration are becoming more and more important. This session is designed for current and prospective users alike, as we will give a brief overall demonstration of Orchard Copia and its features, and then show some of the new and more advanced features of the system, such as the Client Services module. There will also be time to address your questions regarding the system.

Session 10: HL7 Interfacing & EMR Integration
This session will present the basics on HL7 interfacing and system integration, including integration to the EMR. It will also briefly cover its role in the meaningful use guidelines.
Session 11: Setting up Rules in Harvest LIS
This session will present rule basics, including a summary of the seven different kinds of rules that can be configured in Harvest LIS, with special focus on rules for result evaluation, rules for CPT codes and rules for result delivery.
Session 12: Learn More About Orchard Pathology
This session will expose you to Orchard Pathology, which can be fully integrated with Orchard’s Harvest LIS. This session is designed for current and prospective users alike, as we will give a brief demonstration of Orchard Pathology, and then show some of the new and more advanced features of the system. There will also be time to address your questions regarding the system.
