Laboratorians are seeing their roles shift from being technologists to first responders in the patient care pathway. This shift is being enabled, in part, with laboratory automation which is increasingly being used to reduce manual work, improve turnaround time, enhance quality and increase throughput.
It is important for laboratories to include all sources of data and manage and present that data in such a way as to promote better patient care management, including POCT results.
As the POCT market continue to expand, there must be a focus on producing quality results. AACC’s new certified point-of-care testing professional (CPP) credential certifies end operators who have demonstrated competency in all areas of POCT.
