Gravity Diagnostics & Orchard Software Align Goals to Address Substance Abuse Epidemic
Gravity Diagnostics, located in Covington, KY, is a fast-growing reference laboratory with a primary focus on toxicology testing. The laboratory has been a long-term partner with Orchard Software, using Orchard’s software and services to continually grow their services and support their mission.
Gravity initially partnered with Orchard Software in 2005 for molecular testing, expanding to include Orchard® Outreach™ and Orchard™ Enterprise Lab™ Toxicology module in 2017 under new ownership. With the COVID-19 pandemic, their testing volumes rose dramatically, so the laboratory scaled their services to match demand. Orchard’s solutions allowed Gravity to scale up for COVID-19 testing and rescale after the pandemic testing reduced, continually supporting their laboratory volumes and significant growth.
Though COVID-19 testing volumes have dropped, Gravity’s toxicology and other testing types have continued to rise. Most recently, Gravity implemented Orchard Enterprise Lab, Orchard Enterprise Lab Toxicology module, Orchard Molecular, and Orchard Enterprise Lab Microbiology module.

Orchard® Harvest™ Enables Maryland Oncology Hematology Laboratory to Deliver Timely Results for Cancer Care
Maryland Oncology Hematology (MOH) offers accessible cancer care and clinical research with 15 locations across Maryland. Their in-house laboratories enable rapid complete blood count turnaround time (TAT), which supports timely oncology treatments for patients. MOH uses Orchard Harvest to achieve this commendable TAT, reporting fast, accurate results to elevate their standard of care.
In 2016, MOH laboratory decided to consolidate and replace their other LIS with Orchard Harvest. This consolidation of systems allowed the lab leadership and staff to access data for all locations from any site. Orchard was selected for its exemplary data mining and reporting functionality. The lab continues to take advantage of the reporting functions to gain operational insights.
One of the most appreciated aspects of working with Orchard Software is having the added support of a System Administration (SA) agreement. Having minimal staff and steady growth, MOH lab has found it difficult to find the time to perform administrative LIS duties, so they take advantage of Orchard’s expertise through the SA program.
