Orchard Participates in Annual Plane Pull for Special Olympics
Orchard Software has been a long-term supporter of Special Olympics, and every year since 2013, Orchard Software participates in the annual FedEx Plane Pull Challenge. The competition consists of a variety of organizations and companies vying to pull a Boeing 757 faster than their competitors. The teams of up to 20 participants compete in a tug-of-war-type race in order to move the 80-ton plane a lengthy 12 feet. It is a true feat that can only be accomplished through teamwork and determination.
The event is put on by Special Olympics Indiana to raise donations and awareness for more than 11,000 Special Olympics athletes from all over Indiana that compete in more than 20 Olympic-type sports. Orchard supports Special Olympics in other events, such as the Charity Golf Classic and Strikes for Special Olympics Indiana.
It was another successful event that supports a great cause. Every team that competed worked together for a common goal to support Special Olympics Indiana. Orchard is definitely looking forward to next year’s Plane Pull!
In 2017, Orchard Software participated in the Special Olympics Indiana Plane Pull Challenge at the Indianapolis International Airport Postal Hub. 1,500 participants pulled the 80-ton FedEx Boeing 757. The plane pull is Special Olympics Indiana’s largest single-day fundraiser of the year. Sixty teams helped Special Olympics Indiana raise more than $174,000. This money supports Special Olympics Indiana year-round programs and events.

In 2018, Orchard Software sponsored and participated in the 5th annual Strikes for Special Olympics Indiana, presented by the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Fifty teams, including four from Orchard, came together to compete for a great cause. The event raised $20,000 for more than 12,000 Special Olympics athletes across Indiana.
